Teacher Certification
In the state of Texas you must be legally certified to teach in most public schools with the exception of charter schools and home schooling. As part of your Teach For America experience all our corps members who are not already certified will enter our partnering alternative certification program Project P.a.C.E. and become legally certified teachers in the state of Texas.
The four main components to becoming certified are having a bachelors degree, taking and passing your content exam, acceptance into an Educator Alternative Certification Program, Fingerprinting and applying for your Probationary Certificate. Read below for more detailed information and a break down of certification costs.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) website has a step by step guide that explains the entire process to becoming certified take a few minutes to read it over.
